Summertime and the drinking is healthy!

You have probably already tried their award-winning Bo Pils, which is light on calories.

Their Blonde Ale is a harmonious blend of mild malt sweetness and gentle hop bitterness, resulting in a light and easy-drinking ale. Perfectly balanced wiith an ABV of 4.2%, it’s the go-to beer for those afternoons when you want to unwind without undoing your fitness efforts. They think of their Blonde Ale as the “zen master of beers – it knows the secret to keeping everything in equilibrium.”

The Experience, Emeryville: Trader Vic’s Captain’s Cabin

The Experience:

A taste of paradise on the water!

Did you know Trader Vic’s has unique private dining spaces as well as the grand Captain’s Cabin? It’s a large room with lots of glass and views, opening onto a lovely deck on the water with vistas of the Marinas and beyond to San Francisco Bay. You can host your next event or gathering in paradise, right here in Emeryville!

It’s the Tiki vibe created with music from the islands in the background and the rustic bar outside where you can opt for appetizers from the Tahitian Collection and present TV’s Mai Tai Boat! After all, the Mai Tai was invented by ‘The Trader’ Vic Bergeron and now Trader Vic’s Emeryville is home to the Mai Tai, a destination on the water in Emeryville.

Fans say this venue is fantastic and rave about the Spring Rolls, Crispy Prawns and Mai Tais. A great way to watch the sun go down.

The Experience, Alameda: The Local Coffee

The Experience:

Put the ‘Good’ back in your Morning!

Try their just brewed happiness in a cup – a cup of cortado* with oatmilk. It’s a Spanish beverage with roughly equal parts espresso and warm milk.  The milk is steamed, but not frothy. A perfect match with a wheat free coconut macaroon.

Good morning! *(cortar – to cut. The large amount of milk cuts the acidity of the coffee.)

Did you know that the Local is now serving the YUZU, an espresso tonic over ice?  And if you want a little kick, try their Mojito Fizzes with zesty lime, fresh mint and sparkling soda water

This location has been a coffee house for the past 20+ years. It’s one of the oldest buildings on Park Street, built in 1891 as the original Masonic Temple. The owners are continuing the tradition of ‘small-business coffee on Park Street’! Old fashioned furniture reminiscent of an old library, makes it the perfect ambiance for getting your work done. Hours: Mon – Fri 7:30am – 4pm; Sa/Su – 8:30am – 4pm.

About The Local

A community gathering place in  downtown Alameda, The Local is on the ground floor of the original Masonic Lodge building that has been at the heart of the community for over 130 years. New owner Soco Munkhod  reopened The Local after the pandemic to the delight of the community after it had shuttered in December of 2020. Fans hastily came back with their laptops sipping their Lattes and noshing on tasty pastries and sandwiches in this lovely  historic building.
