There will be a Lion and Dragon Dance by CAL VSA Lion Dance, Makers Market, food and fun in the South Bay Street Plaza! Don’t miss out – make it a day to remember!

The Year of the Dragon 2024 invites us to be inventive, creative and adventurous and this celebration will not disappoint.  Experience the traditional artforms of Lion Dancing and Chinese Calligraphy.  We are excited to welcome Cal VSA Lion Dance, UC Berkeley’s one and only Lion Dance team to share this tradition with the community, bringing good luck and prosperity to all.  Then, learn the beautiful art of Chinese calligraphy and get hands-on experience with locally renowned calligraphy artist Jojo Liu.  Plus, enjoy all the new bites Bay Street has to offer!

Choose 3 entrées, each including 2 portions plus 1 Salad & 1 Focaccia per entrée. Package Price: only $80 (or $13.33 per meal) Order by Friday 2/2 and pick it up on Tuesday 2/6 or have it delivered to you and you are set!

  2. Lasagna with Bechamel & all-beef Chianti Meat Sauce

  5. Ravioli di Zucca con Gorgonzola – Butternut Squash Ravioli with Gorgonzola Cream Sauce

The Experience, Richmond: Richmond Art Center Exhibit

The Experience:

Art of the African Diaspora 2024

Fill your weekend with art. Now in its 27th year, Art of the African Diaspora continues to express and celebrate the creative achievements of artists of African descent. Over 150 artists showcase their work at Richmond Art Center, as well as in open studios and satellite exhibitions at different venues around the Bay Area. The exhibit runs through March 16, 2024.

Artistic Achievement Award Winners from 2023/2024 and featured artists in the exhibition are John Broussard, Valerie Brown-Troutt, Stacy Mootoo, Deborah Butler, Kim Champion and Carrie Lee McClish.

The exhibition also includes a special tribute to the late Hilda Robinson, a beloved artist whose vivid pastels captured joy, love of family, and community in celebrations of life.

The Experience:

Live music + great wine + wood-fired pizza!

Treat yourself to a wine tasting this weekend and relax to some great jazz.and blues. Wood-fired pizzas and tasty salads on the menu to accompany the wine or cider of your choice.

Here’s the lineup

  • Friday, January 26, 6-9pm – Lee Waterman Trio. Experience Jazz standards, Blues, and Bossa Nova with well-known guitarist Lee Waterman performing with veterans Tim Campbell (keys) and Jim Thorne (drums) to recreate the swinging sounds of great guitar/organ combos from the 50’s & 60’s.
  • Saturday, January 27, 2-5pm – Key Elements will entertain you with Latin Jazz and those infectious exotic rhythms. A Latin Jazz ensemble comprised of some of the SF Bay area’s most seasoned instrumentalists who perform exceptional original and Latin/Brazilian Jazz classics.
  • Sunday, January 28, 2-5pm – experience traditional blues and Americana/Roots music with Red’s Blues Band. This four-piece band features Beth Reid-Grigsby, aka Sacramento Red, on lead vocals and harmonies, and who was inducted into the Sacramento Blues Hall of Fame in 2023. Traditional blues, as well as a lot of original Americana/Roots music.
