The Experience, Oakland: Montclair Art Walk April 25-26

The Experience:

It’s an Outdoor Boutique. It’s Handcrafted. It’s an Art Alfresco Experience!

Join the villagers and artists on Saturday, April 25 and Sunday, April 26 from 10am – 5pm. Plan your day around this sidewalk art show and have lunch in Montclair. Montclair Village Art Walk enters its 49th year and celebrates art in the outdoors when more than 50 artists from the Bay Area and beyond will be displaying their handcrafted artwork along the sidewalks and against the scenic backdrop of Montclair Village and the Oakland Hills.

Connect with the artists and find a unique treasure for gifting or adding to your personal collection.

Paintings, sculptures, home & office décor, artisan bags and clothing, unique hand-crafted jewelry and more.  Presented by the Montclair Village Association, this free open air art gallery offers a chance to get to know the participating artists and learn the stories behind each piece they make.

Featured Artisans Includes:

Stephen Anderson of Spring Garden Cedar takes Western Red Cedar lumber and hand crafts it into unique outdoor furniture designs.

Megan Brown Ceramics namesake artist wheel throws and hand builds functional, modern ceramic tableware, home decor and jewelry using porcelain and stoneware.

Painter Jenna Hobbs’ artwork ranges from realistic to impressionistic to completely abstract. Jenna blends geometric abstraction with depiction in order to display an intersection between the two.

Visit on Sunday and in addition to leaving with new art treasures, take home fresh produce and delectables from La Salle Avenue’s wonderful farmers’ market stalls from 9am-1pm.

The Art Walk takes place in the Montclair shopping district on Mountain Boulevard at LaSalle Avenue, off Highway 13, between Park Boulevard and Thornhill Drive.

Nothing pairs with sunshine like tequila, lime and a table full of your favorite Mexican dishes. And this weekend is going to be sunny, so start your afternoon with a Margarita and then dive into totopos, salsa and guacamole. Savor your favorite salads, tacos, enchiladas or bowls. Afternoon bliss! Here are a few menu ideas:

Ensaladas Y Sopa

  • Ensalada Verde – gem lettuce, avocado, jicama, radish cucumber, lime-jalapeño dressing
  • Ensalada Mixta – green leaf lettuce, black beans, quinoa, corn, bell pepper, avocado, chipotle-honey dressing
  • Pozole Verde – chicken or pork tomatillo soup, hominy, cabbage, radishes, tortilla chips, onion, lime, oregano

Tacos

  • Two tacos served with beans, escabeche and salsa dorada
  • Carnitas – slow-roasted pork, slaw
  • Chicken Tinga – shredded poached chicken, pickled habanero onion
  • Vegetariano – king trumpet mushrooms, poblanos, caramelized onions, pico de gallo
  • Carne Asada – grilled steak, pico de gallo
  • Pescado – chipotle aioli, slaw; fried cod or grilled adobo +

Their Bowls are served with rice, beans, pico de gallo, avocado and queso fresco and their Enchiladas are served with rice, refried beans, guacamole, lettuce, crema and pico de gallo.

Emeryville International LGBTQ+ Film Festival is back!

Spend a fun afternoon at Bay Street Emeryville watching films and dining at your favorite eateries. Saturday, February 28, 12-10pm Bay Street Emeryville is thrilled to be partnering with community member Robby Kendall to welcome back the Emeryville International LGBTQ+ Film Festival at AMC Bay Street 16. The festival is divided into individual, themed 2-hour film blocks. Outside the theater mingle with their participating filmmakers & artists, sponsors and more. Think Pride meets Film Festival.

Block 1: 12 – 2pm:  PURE. QUEER. JOY. 

Block 2:   2 – 4pm:  RATED Q (18+ recommended).

Block 3:   4 – 6pm:  FUN IN SHORTS presented by Frameline.

The Experience, Emeryville: Bay Street Emeryville Sunday

The Experience:

Big screen. Big choice of food. Big fun!

Kick off the fun at the pre‑game tailgate starting at 2 PM on the South Bay Street Plaza! This is a supersized Game Day celebration featuring a 16’x8’ jumbo LED screen, inflatables, games, prizes and an Enter‑to‑Win prize package valued at over $500.

Grab food and drinks from dining favorites like Arthur Mac’s Little Snack, Flores, Hand Roll Factory and more. Kevin’s Natural Foods will be onsite with food sampling and fun.

Limited seating is available on the Plaza; low-profile lawn chairs are welcome. Outside food and beverages are not permitted. Parking is easy with on-site garages, plenty of bike parking, plus Bay Street is also BARTable via MacArthur Station and the Emery Go-Round.
