Here’s what’s happening this weekend. All you need to do is grab your friends and get your game on!  – pool or ping pong. Decide what you are drinking and then share some tasty bites. You can also watch your fave sports games on their big screen TVs. You get the vibe!

• PATATAS – Crispy twice cooked fries with a side of house garlic aioli & rosemary ketchup
• WEDGE SALAD – Fresh romaine lettuce topped with pickled red onions, cherry tomato, cucumber, kalamata olives, feta, and vinaigrette
• ROASTED WINGS – A pound of traditional chicken wings, roasted & served with ranch, buffalo, honey mustard, BBQ and side of veggies
• HOUSE BURGER – (featured here) Half pound of Wagyu served on a Pretzel bun with aioli, lettuce, tomato, pickles served with a choice of Wedge Salad or Patatas (Add $2 per topping: Cheese, Egg, Avocado)
• PASSION PLATTER: Tabouli salad, hummus, feta, kalamata olives, cherry tomatoes, and juicy grilled lamb served on toasted pita
• ZESTY MEATBALLS: Choice of four seasoned lamb, wagyu, chicken, impossible, or combination meatballs served with a toasted pita & choice of wedge salad or patatas

Big Daddy – Placemaking in the Urban Environment!

Who was Big Daddy?  Folks always ask this. When the abandoned gas station on Peralta burned down, the City of Emeryville asked the residents what they’d like to see on the site. Big Daddy’s Complete Rejuvenating Community Garden is the result, the name a riff on Big Daddy Green’s original car-detailing business there.

Big Daddy’s is hosting a series of events this summer. You can tour the raised-bed garden boxes tended by community members, the eco-friendly home to many native plants and pollinators as well as numerous sculptures and artworks.

Sunday Summer Events and Eco-Art will happen on Aug 18, 23, Sept 15 and Oct 1 with funding provided by the State of California and Emeryville’s Rotten City Cultural District. Admission is free and the site is wheelchair accessible.

Join them for their first Eco-Art event at Big Daddy’s.

3:00 PM Poetry reading by Rafael Jesús González,  Berkeley Poet Laureate Emeritus, introduced by Andree Singer Thompson, Artist, Teacher, and Co-founder of WEAD, the Women Eco Artists Dialog. Rafael and Andree featured below.
