The Experience, Emeryville: elizabethW

The Experience:

‘Made in Emeryville’ featured at APEC in SF!

Did you know that right here in Emeryville fragrances and wellness products are created based on scent? Here’s the story we learned as APEC started taking over San Francisco, our sister city across the Bay.

elizabethW San Francisco’s founder, Albert Nichols (featured in the photo) said, “At elizabethW, we believe in the power of fragrance to evoke memories, emotions, and dreams. Our perfumer artisans meticulously blend each scent, balancing traditional methods with modern innovation resulting in timeless fragrances that speak to the soul.”

His great-grandmother Elizabeth Wightman founded a ranch in the Sierras in the 1800s and taught him that scent is a potent reminder of our past. “My strongest memories are the scents of summer as a kid on Elizabeth’s ranch,” states Albert. Obviously, it inspired him to create elizabethW, named after her, and this wonderful line of products with fragrances from her garden. And then they were chosen for the gifting at APEC!

“We made a wide selection of our wellness gifts for APEC on behalf of the President, First Lady and their administration, as well as for San Francisco Mayor London Breed,” says Michael Lindsay, elizabethW co-owner. Mayor Breed apparently is a big fan of elizabethW products!

Michael and Albert met with the mayor in her office where they discussed how to represent the best of San Francisco, show support for small businesses and reflect the diversity of our country through its manufacturers. At the same time, trying to stay local and sustainable. “So, it’s obviously a huge honor for our company as a small, diverse business,” continues Michael.

And that is where Emeryville comes in. elizabethW products are manufactured in Emeryville! elizbethW is an ‘Emeryville Maker!’ They design and make their products and packaging in their studio by the Bay (Emeryville on the Bay).

Here’s the scoop on who got what!

The dignitaries – Presidents, Prime Ministers, etc – they created four separate gifts, but Michael says he has no idea who gets what:

  1. Vetiver Hand Cream + Vetiver Rollerball in elizabethW drawstring bag (Vetiver is their Signature scent for the past 28 years)
  2. Assorted Vetiver Silk Sachets in elizabethW drawstring bag
  3. Lavender Linen Pillow Insert + Lavender Pillow Spray in elizabethW drawstring bag
  4. Assorted silk Sleep Masks in elizabethW drawstring bag

For over 3,000 delegates – another separate offering of four different gift sets:

  1. Vetiver Mini Hand Cream in elizabethW drawstring bag
  2. Vetiver Rollerball in elizabethW drawstring bag
  3. Assorted shea butter Lip Balms in elizabethW drawstring bag
  4. Assorted Nail & Cuticle Oils + Clean Hand Sprays in elizabethW drawstring bag

And for the Media: 800 assorted Clean Hand Sprays.

Check out their online store and when in SF head to Ghiradelli Square to their SF shop.

The Experience:

Discover the culinary art of Churrasco cooking!

Step into the old home of P.F. Chang’s and you will see that the open grill and fire-roasted meats are central to the new FOGO DE CHÃO experience. Fans’ favorites include Bone-In Ribeye, Lamb Chops and the house specialty, Picanha, the prime part of the top sirloin, representing the art and science of churrasco cooking.

Founded in Southern Brazil in 1979, Fogo elevates the centuries-old cooking technique of churrasco – the art of roasting high-quality cuts of meat over an open flame – into a cultural dining experience of discovery. They offer a range of menu selections and prices for lunch and dinner, giving their guests many choices.

Experience the Market Table and Feijoada Bar, a colorful palate of fresh and flavorful ingredients inspired by Brazilian farmlands and recipes that are traditional staples of Southern Brazilian cuisine. Seasonal salads and soup, fresh vegetables, imported charcuterie and more. Menu items also include lighter classic seafood dishes with a Brazillian twist.

Your meats are served up by their gaucho chefs tableside and if you are seated near the open grill, you will be amazed by the currasco cooking technique. But remember, there would be no churrasco without picanha!

Bonus: Happy Hour all day long! Guests can enjoy $10 Brazilian-inspired cocktails, $8 glasses of South American wines and $5 Beer all-day every day, in the dining room, patio and bar.
