About Celebration of the Arts

The Annual Emeryville Art Exhibition is sponsored by Emeryville Celebration of the Arts, Inc. The Experience, Emeryville: Public Market Murals HQ

The Experience:

Sea Walls Artists Paint up Emeryville with Murals for Our Oceans!

Over the span of six days, September 12-17, the team of ARTivists will create ten ocean advocacy murals that speak to pressing marine environmental topics related to the conservation of Emeryville’s marine natural resources, the challenges facing the Bay and the world’s oceans. You are invited to watch the artists in action! Pick up your mural walking maps at Public Market Emeryville.

“This Saturday I am pleased to lead a walking tour of some of these murals,” said Mayor John Bauters, “giving art enthusiasts the chance to hear from the arists themselves. You’ll learn about critical issues facing oceanic habitat and wildlife across the SF Bay, as depicted in the murals that will grace our city.”

To help facilitate an ongoing relationship between Emeryville’s community, the murals, and their environment, Sea Walls Emeryville will host youth outreach in the school district, the coastal cleanup 9/17 and a free community event at the Public Market 9/16 with short films and discussion tackling topics at the intersection of art, science, and disruption for good.

“Emeryville is an environmental leader,” continues Bauters, “and the decision to select our city as a venue for this incredible event is a testament to our reputation as a city of art and innovation. I hope anyone interested in learning more will join us on Saturday at the Public Market Food Hall at 1pm for the walk.”

The Public Market Emeryville will also act as the PangeaSeed Foundation’s global Sea Walls: Artists for Oceans project’s headquarters, where residents and visitors can pick up mural walking maps, obtain more information on the initiative, and take part in public programming – plus have a bite to eat!
