The Experience:

Summer Fest celebrated new eateries !

A fun crowd descended upon the  Public Market Wednesday evening, celebrating all their eateries (listed below) and connecting with all the purveyors. The group at this table featured above raved about the bass fish sandwich and the banana pudding at Le Marine Fish & Grill. Hosts offered a summer drink – Prosecco, with cucumber, elderberry and more. Very light and refreshing. Guests traversed the Public Market Food Hall and met up with friends to share their finds. Check out their events or just go down and have a bite to eat, a drink at Blush Bar where you can catch your fave major league sports.

The Experience, Richmond: El Agave Azul Tuesdays

The Experience:

What’s for dinner on Tuesday? And who’s cooking?

Tell your family and friends that it is TACO TUESDAY at Agave Azul and you are taking them there! All tacos are only $4, except for seafood. So, round up the crew and come hungry for your midweek fiesta, the way they do it. But where did Taco Tuesday start?

Here’s a bit of the fun and tangled story behind Taco Tuesdays. In 1979 a restaurant owner of a small taco joint ‘Taco John’s’ in SD had the simple idea – sell tacos at a discount on Tuesdays to get people to come in when it is usually so slow. The name was catchy and who doesn’t love cheap tacos? Taco John’s trademarked ‘Taco Tuesday’ in 1989.

And then there was a cultural explosion. Even though Taco John’s technically owned the trademark ‘Taco Tuesday’, it took on a life of its own. People everywhere used it, memes were born, Instagram posts exploded, National Nite Outs (always on Tuesday) used it.

Under growing pressure and a campaign led by Taco Bell to “Free Taco Tuesday”, Taco John’s gave up the trademark in July 2023.

That’s it from here. Taco Tuesday is your mid-week break at Agave Azul. They have fantastic Margaritas and Mexican beer waiting for you. And can’t wait to see you.

Agave Azul Hours: Mon – Thurs 11am-9pm; Fri 11am-10:30pm; Sat 10am-10:30pm; Sun 9am-9pm.  510-307-5749.
