  • Bay Street Live, Bay Street’s Summer Concert Series, will continue in September with a free live outdoor concert

Chocolate & Chalk Art Festival Fills the Sidewalks of Berkeley!

When: Saturday, August 25, 10am-5pm

Where: Gourmet Ghetto, Shattuck Ave. in North Berkeley

What: A Chalk Art Contest + 20th Anniversary Celebration – FREE family event

  • Festival booths fill the blocks between Rose and Vine Streets.
  • Artists – grab some chalk -areas of sidewalk are assigned for you to create your own fanciful chalk drawings
  • Judging will begin after 4pm for the best drawing
  • Cash prizes: $150, $100, $50 and runners-up get a $25 gift certificate from Books Inc.  
  • EAT CHOCOLATE! Purchase tasting tickets ($1/ea. or 20/$20) at 1451, 1495, 1607 Shattuck Ave. on the day of the event or in advance
  • Oreo-stacking contest
  • Singha beer or wine near the CVS Performing Area at 1451 Shattuck

About the Chocolate

The to-go menu features over 25 items including chocolate rum gelato, English toffee, a chocolate rose des sables, dark chocolate truffles, Oreo shakes, bittersweet chocolate pudding, chocolate ganache cupcakes, or savory menu items such as chocolate-covered pancetta or a chocolate molé taco. For those over 21, there is coffee Campfire stout and for vegans there are cookies, brownies and gelato, too. You might even relax with a hand massage with chocolate-scented cream.Chocolate Menu items are available during the hours listed and only while supplies last. Items may be substituted. All items (except the beer) are sold ‘to-go’ only.

The Summer Classic Is Sunday! East Brother’s Classic Beers + Classic Cars + Classic Tunes

WHAT: East Brother Beer Co.’s second Summer Classic Car Show & Festival!

Classic Beers: Red Lager, Gold IPA, Oatmeal Stout, Red IPA & Bo Pils

Classic Cars  & Competition: Admire the rides from the 50s, 60s, & 70s and vote on your favorite! Winners of the people’s choice car show will receive a custom East Brother Beer Co. Trophy Growler! If you have a pre-smog (pre 1975) competition-worthy car or truck, and are looking to participate please email them before the event. Participation is free. The more cars, the better the show!

Have a Beer & Revel In Art @ Richmond’s East Brother Beer Co.!

JOIN: East Brother Beer Co. for a Summer Solstice Artist Showcase at 1001 Canal Blvd. in Richmond.

WHEN: Sunday, June 24th,  12-8pm.

Artist: Lauren Ari

WHO: Food Emporium, Richmond Art Center and Arts of Point Richmond will showcase local artists of all media types

ARTISTS: Over 30 local artists will showcase mixed media, paintings, photography, ceramics and more. Artist Lauren Ari will be selling paintings and small ceramic sculptures. She has a collection of ‘Bedscapes’ that explore the world of our sleeping and dreaming – where beds serve as a platform for Archetypes to drive our dreams. Lauren teaches art classes at the Richmond Art Center and has a studio at 601 St. in Richmond.

Jon H. Wong is a painter and illustrator also selling his work. “I

infuse all of my Pen & Ink illustrations with coffee,” says Jon.  “Funny story, it happened by accident one jittery morning, and when I discovered how cool the sepia wash looked, the rest is history.“

Jon is the founder of Lost Colony San Francisco, a vehicle for Jon to give back to the Bay Area community. He is creating a coffee table book with his artwork and plans to go on tour on the West Coast and sell original drawings, books and more. A portion of sales will go to select charities in the cities where he stops – especially those helping with homeless outreach/relief and women’s’ domestic violence counseling/relief.

More fun is promised with performance artists, including a trio called “The Drinking” and a solo artist name David McBride.
