Congrats to Main Street Initiative!  They have put Richmond in the running for a fabulous grant to refurbish Market Square Mall.

“Richmond’s Market Square Mall Marquee is in need of restoration and repair,” says Janet Johnson, City of Richmond Economic Development Administrator. ” A vote for Richmond will help restore the Marquee, bring visitors to the city and create a bright light on one of the most visible intersections Downtown Richmond.”

National Geographic & Partners in Preservation selected Downtown Richmond as a finalist for the 2017 Partners in Preservation Vote Your Main Street program!

There are 25 cities selected throughout the U.S., and Richmond is one of them! Ten lucky winners will receive a grant of $150,000 for their Main Street Project. Of 25 finalists, Main Street Initiative’s project, the Restoration and Preservation of Market Square Mall, is the only one in Northern California. Everyone in the greater Bay Area is needed to help them win this grant! All you have to do is go to VoteYourMainStreet.org everyday. You get to vote 5 x/day!

The campaign is now live and runs through October 31.
