PangeaSeed Foundation’s global Sea Walls: Artists for Oceans program will be hosting its latest project in Emeryville from September 9-19, producing 16 ocean advocacy murals and hosting various public events to increase interest and engagement around marine stewardship and action within the community.

Over the span of six days, September 12-17, our team of ARTivists will create ten ocean advocacy murals that speak to pressing marine environmental topics related to the conservation of Emeryville’s marine natural resources, the Bay Area, and the world’s oceans.

After an immersive weekend of learning about and experiencing the various environmental challenges facing the Bay, the participating artists will be painting large-scale artworks on buildings across town, September 12-16. The public is invited to explore the mural sites and watch the artists in action!

To help facilitate an ongoing relationship between Emeryville’s community, the murals, and their environment SeWalls Emeryville will host:

  • Youth outreach at the Emeryville Unified School District
  • Emeryville’s Nora Davis Coastal Cleanup  on International Coastal Clean Up Day (September 17)
  • Mural walking tours guided by Mayor Bauters, making it a well-rounded experience for all ages.
  • Free community event at the Public Market Emeryville on September 16, featuring short film screenings and a thought-provoking panel discussion tackling topics at the intersection of art, science, and disruption for good.

The Public Market Emeryville will also act as the project’s headquarters, where residents and visitors can pick up mural walking maps, obtain more information on the initiative, and take part in public programming.
