About Riggers Loft Wine Co.:

Riggers Loft owners, Kevin and Barbara Brown of R&B Cellars, always liked the idea of creating a cooperative winery and tasting room. It’s the idea of a wine “artist colony” that particularly appealed to them. So when they found the perfect place for their winery, Riggers Loft, they invited a select group of wineries to join them. Riggers Loft Wine Company is home to R&B Cellars, Carica Wines, Irish Monkey Cellars and Barrel & Ink, all with their own unique stories and wine making style. It is also home to the Far West Cider Company, a boutique cidery. Everyone makes their wines and ciders on the premises and participates in the tasting room, thus creating a special destination wine bar where customers can enjoy flights of wines and/or ciders or glasses of their favorites and take bottles home with them.

Fun Ride from Richmond to SF and back on Tideline Water Taxi

The seas were rough, but the group held forth aboard the ferry, as Tideline Water Taxi hosted an event  for Richmond chamber members. It was a quick 30 min. ride from the dock to Pier 1.5 in San Francisco to pick up passengers who were returning home to Richmond.

The dock is located at Marina Bay Yacht Harbor, just below the Harbormaster’s office at 1340 Marina Way South. There is a convenient public parking lot at the Contra Costa County employment office across the street from the dock.

Now Richmond residents have a relaxing way to commute between Richmond and San Francisco – just sit back and enjoy the ride, free WiFi, beverages and flat screen TVs on board for only $11/trip.

According to Gon Vilayphani, bar manager extraordinaire at Salute e Vita Ristorante close by at 1900 Esplanade Dr., many of his customers walk up the Bay Trail to the ferry dock in the mornings, making for a smooth morning commute. “And the great thing,” says Gon, ” is that on their way home they can just stop at Salute’s for a cocktail and a bite to eat. They all seem much more relaxed on their way to and from work.”

Here’s how Tideline Water Taxi service works:

Currently you must purchase a pass or tickets in advance and become one of Tideline’s Richmond-SF private commuter shuttle members. Service is limited to pre-purchased ticket holders only at this point in time. The boat has a maximum capacity of 40 people. Monthly passes are $340 and you do not have to make daily reservations. You can also just buy a 6-pack of 6 tickets for $66 and reserve your dates or a single fare for $11 one way and reserve your trip. For a quick response text question: (720) 552-6699.

Kick Off the Weekend with Happy Hour & Jazz at Richmond’s Rigger’s Loft

This Friday, March 10, start your weekend in Richmond on the Bay and kick back to the tunes of the Tauber/Browning Band at Rigger’s Loft Wine Co. Happy Hour begins at 4pm and the music will get down at 5:30 until 8:30pm.

Joining Jeff Tauber on sax and Craig Browning on keyboard is special guest, master drummer and Blues singer, Frank Samuels, who has played with Blues greats such as Joe Turner and Etta James and local legends Beverly Stovall and Faye Carol.

At Rigger’s Loft tasting room, you can taste R&B Cellars and Carica wines as well as Far West cider.  They offer flights of cider, with also one of the ciders included in the  Tasting Room’s suggested wine flights each week. Street Eats, their in-house food truck offers tasty cuisine prepared by chef Paul Skrentny. With a diverse and changing menu such as Sweet Corn Fritters, Smoked Salmon Tostadas, Falafel or Chicken Pita, a great Cheeseburger and more, you can choose a variety of foods to share with your friends and pair with wines and ciders.

Though the space at 1325 Canal has had a rebirth, this East Bay urban wine movement, Riggers Loft Wine Co., is continuing the Old World wine making philosophy where you can walk in and taste wine among the winemakers, their families and barrels. You are not glassed off from the production process, as is so common today on the various wine country tours. R&B Cellars owner Kevin compares it to an artist colony. “People can come here and perfect their art, their craft. There’s lots of diversity here. And a lot of fun. It has become a destination.”

Come for the wine and music and stay for the view and sunset. This view is the beginning of a magical immersion into the beauty of 31 miles of shoreline that surround the City of Richmond.

Rigger’s Loft Wine Co. is located at 1325 Canal St. in Richmond.

Tasting Room Hours:

Thursdays & Fridays: 4 – 9pm
Saturdays: 12 – 9pm
Sundays: 12 – 6pm
