Young sailors from around the globe – aged 19-24 – completed a rigorous training program and the selection trials for the Red Bull Youth America’s Cup held Feb. 19 – 24 on San Francisco Bay.

Being that it is the first year the America’s Cup has offered a race program for young people, race leaders started out with rules about staying in the Alcatraz side of the Bay Bridge and not racing in over 15 knots of wind, but broke these rules the first day. The races took place while cold and fierce shipping winter winds made the challenge difficult to manage those massive sails on the 45’ Catamarans.
