Rotten City Cultural District (RCCD) Presents

RCCD has curated an incredible lineup of artists who will be bringing their creativity to the Rotten City Cultural District. Stop by the space at Bay Street Emeryville, located next to H&M Man for this Open Studio Experience series.

Each month, a new resident will take over, transforming our space with their unique vision and artistic practice. Stay tuned for exhibitions, workshops, and behind-the-scenes glimpses into their work! Follow along as they bring bold ideas and new perspectives to Emeryville’s Rotten City Cultural District.

For April, Robert Ortbal is the Artist in Residency.

Robert Ortbal is a California sculptor who uses everyday items and non-traditional art materials to create the otherworldly. The Emeryville-based sculptor follows a path that may well twist into an entirely different dimension.

With the humblest of materials and a truly cosmic vision of how they can be deployed in endless mutations, sculptor Robert Ortbal has created a phantasmagorical universe of objects that play on familiar associations while at same time handily defying comparisons to any actual terrestrial, oceanic, microscopic or cosmic life forms you may have known.
