Restoring an Art Treasure: Richmond Industrial City Mural by Victor Arnautoff

It’s been a long journey for renowned artist Victor Arnautoff’s mural, Richmond: Industrial City. This fabulous mural, commissioned by the United States Treasury Section, hung in the Richmond Post office from 1941 until 1976 when it was taken down due to remodeling. Decades passed; the crate it was stored in went missing; and the mural was eventually declared lost. Until a city custodial employee found it in 2014 in an unlit closet in the basement of the same Post Office!

Since then, Richmond Museum of History and Culture Director Melinda McCrary worked tirelessly to raise funds to restore the mural. Those efforts came to fruition with major help from Scott Haskins, Art Conservator and Author, and his team at Fine Art Conservation Laboratories. Come for the unveiling now that it’s on exhibit at the Richmond Museum of Art & Culture in Richmond.

Michaan’s Antiques presents the Alameda Point Antiques Faire.

The Alameda Point Antiques Faire is the largest antiques show in Northern California. Held on the 1st Sunday of every month, the Faire boasts over 800 Dealer booths.  All items are 20 years old or older.  Our faire is the ultimate place to shop for vintage and antique home decorations, clothing, furniture, jewelry, art, pottery, books & collectibles.

Parking is FREE.  Our shuttle will be operating between 8:30 am and 3:30 pm to shuttle customers from the parking lot to the Faire Entrance, with occasional stops at the Ferry Building on Main Street.

We are in a Wildlife Sanctuary and pets are NOT allowed per our Use Permit. Service Dogs are exempt from this rule, but comfort dogs are not.

WHAT:  37th Annual Emeryville Art Exhibition

Celebrating the art and artists of Emeryville, this juried group show features nearly 200 pieces of artwork by 126 Emeryville artists. The exhibition is open to artists of all media and includes paintings, sculpture, photographs, prints, drawings, ceramics, textiles, and furniture, along with a site-specific dance performance and poetry workshop and reading. The East Bay enclave of Emeryville is well known for its active and diverse arts community and this exhibition serves as the city’s annual celebration of its thriving collective creativity. Each year a panel of Bay Area art professionals selects the pieces for the annual exhibition. The result is a carefully curated group show offering a sampling of the vast and varied works of local artists and craftspeople.

The Annual Emeryville Art Exhibition is sponsored by Emeryville Celebration of the Arts, Inc.. Independent curator and exhibition designer Kathleen Hanna is curator and juror. The other 2023 jurors are Emilee Enders, curator of exhibitions and programs at Bedford Gallery and Jan Watten, founder and curator of Gray Loft Gallery, Oakland.

Sunday FUNDday stems from our goal of making Tipsy Putt East Bay more than just a bar to play games at and drink great local beer.

Every Sunday of the month, we’ll be donating $1 from every beer and every round of mini golf sold to a local charity of our choosing. For August & September, we’ll be joined by Move For Hunger.
