The Red Bull Youth America’s Cup Starts Sun., Sept. 1, on the San Francisco Bay off the Marina Green. Ten teams from eight countries will race through Sept. 4 on the same AC45 wing sail catamarans used by the America’s Cup teams in the AC World Series 2012-2013. Just as exciting will be their final day of practicing on Sat., Aug. 31 when they face off with Speed Trials incorporated into the practice program. These 19-24 year olds have been training diligently the last few weeks. Catch up with them on video on the America’s Cup website.

America’s Cup Anticipation Builds

Emirates Team New Zealand won the Louis Vuitton Cup with their final race against Luna Rossa on Sun., Aug. 25 on the foggy San Francisco Bay. The final score was 7-1.

As Challenger (the first to win 7 races in the Louis Vuitton races), the Kiwis now go on to battle the America’s Cup Defender, ORACLE TEAM USA on Sat., Sept. 7, when the 34th America’s Cup races (a best-of-17 race series) begin. You can probably catch the two contenders out on the Bay prior to Sept. 7. Stay tuned!
