Art Paints the City of Richmond with Vibrant Talent!

Arts of Pt Richmond  has certainly kept its promise to enrich the community with art experiences and provide artists support, appreciation, and exposure. There are  powerful ongoing exhibits in three locations in Richmond and outside of buildings you’ll discover Taking it Outdoors, a concept created by Kenoli Oleari and Sharon Good.  50 banners showcase art all over downtown Pt Richmond, supporting the premise that art should be indoors and outdoors, basically everywhere in our lives.  (DJ Leland Sailing on the Bay photograph -right)

El Sol Restaurant is serving up its art exhibit of AOPR member artists that runs through October 13, 2021 with the theme ‘Landscapes’. Participating artists: Dee Bell, Andi Biren, Carol Engelbrecht, Rita Gardner, Caitlin Hibma, Irene Hightower, and Nancy Whitley. Drop  by to enjoy the colorful art exhibit and stay for the margaritas and Mexican food made from traditional family recipes at El Sol! 101 Park Place, Point Richmond. (Featured image above)

Milling through the many rooms at Lara’s Fine Dining, you will find ‘fine dining’ and ‘fine art’! Artwork is animating the walls of the restaurant and art banners paint the parking lot with joy and free-spiritedness, as they welcome you to Lara’s  and Ahn’s Restaurant & Bar next door. The show, running through November 2021, features works by AOPR member artists: Debi Cooper, Jim DeWitt, Emily Erickson, Rita Gardner, Jeanne Hendrickson, Irene Hightower, Bill Johnston Jr., Betsy Kellas, Nora Lee, DJ Leland, Nancy Noble, Ellen Pechman, Judy Rattner, Bette Tarr, Sharon Taylor-Ward, George Tomberlin, Nancy Whitley, and Louise Williams.  Enjoy your favorites from their Italian and California Cuisine inspired  menu. 1900 Esplanade Drive on Marina Bay.

Dee Bell fills Pt Richmond Post Office with Beauty + Color!

An Exhibition of oil paintings by Dee Bell is showing at the Post Office at 104 Washington Ave in Point Richmond through April 5, 2021. Her art is inspired by the organic shapes, patterns and colors of nature. Dee lives in Point Richmond and loves painting local scenes. Many of her paintings also reflect the spirit years she lived in Hawaii.

“The joy and freedom of painting is a true gift, says artist Dee Bell.” I am an architect and artist working in many media including sculpture, glass fusing, and mosaics. Yet in oil painting I’ve found my deepest and everlasting passion. I am inspired by the colors and beauty of nature. Many of my paintings reflect the spirit of the years I spent in Hawaii. I live in the Point and love painting our beautiful Bay Area where I’ve lived since 1996.“

This exhibition and more are produced by the Arts of Point Richmond.

Happening Today: East Brother Beer Co.’s Virtual Taproom on Community Policing

Join East Brother Beer Co.  this evening, June 18, at 5:30pm for their first Pride and Purpose Virtual Taproom on Community Policing.

They’re giving their platform to community activist Dewanda Joseph, Founder of Ya-NEEMA Healing Circle and Supportive Services, and advocate for victims of gun violence.

“In Richmond, we’re fortunate enough to have civic and nonprofit leaders who have been championing social justice for decades,” comments Rob Lightner, East Brother Beer Co. co-founder. “Over the last few days, we’ve been actively listening and learning from them. But change doesn’t come from only listening; it comes from actions.”

To enter the Virtual Taproom: You can enter via Zoom:bit.ly/pandpcommunityforum   or watch their live stream on their Facebook Pagehttps://www.facebook.com/eastbrotherbeer/. Dewanda will bring together civic and community leaders to discuss police and community relations in the City of Richmond, what we can all be doing to protect people of color and how our city is moving forward.
